Long time, no blog

The month and a half since Christmas have flown by! As soon as we returned from WV, Greg and I got busy with work and school, and I've neglected the blog. :( We haven't done too many special activities, and - until this weekend - I hadn't taken a single photo since Christmas!

Friday evening, we broke out the Chocolate Factory again to make our own Valentine's candy while watching the Olympic opening ceremony coverage. I didn't stay up to watch all of the opening, but the whales projected on the floor amazed me! As for the chocolate... we dipped strawberries, preztels (gluten-free and regular), peanuts, marshmallows and made some solid chocolate pieces as well. My personal favorite were the pretzels...which didn't last too long.

Anybody hungry yet?

Saturday morning, Shannon and I drove to Lewiston to run in the 4-mile Sweetheart Run while our respective sweethearts were buried under homework and research. We ended up having a sunny, spring-like day for the race along the Snake River (close to where my 1/2-marathon was). I just ran the race for fun and didn't register, but Shannon and I came in at respectable 2nd place for our age group (19th & 20th overall) and she was generous enough to let me share her ribbon! We decided red was better than blue anyway...because of Valentine's day and all. :) The rest of February and all of March are jam-packed with races nearly every weekend, so I hope to have some good pictures every week!

Post-race. Shannon finished in 32:45, my time was 33:00.

"We're number two, we're number two!" Anybody who has seen the movie Whip It should appreciate that quote. We're proud to celebrate mediocrity! :)

Sunday, I made an attempt at a special Valentine's Day breakfast. Unfortunately, I was too concerned with the special French hot chocolate that I burnt the main course. Oops! Oh well, Greg wanted oatmeal anyway. :)

We hope everyone back home is keeping their heads above the snow! You can keep it though, I'm enjoying our early spring (knock on wood).

Hi Linz,
The desserts look great! Are you out of gluten free pretzels? We are enjoying the snow-or should I say days off. Glad you are enjoying the early spring which is unlike last year out there-right? We are off again today and probably delay tomorrow. Congrats on the race and hope the weather holds out for you to run in the others. Thanks for the pics. Love and miss you both. Hope to see you soon.
Love you,
Mom
